Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are officially married!

Prince Henry Charles Albert David of Wales, popularly known as Prince Harry, married American actress Meghan Markle in a ceremony attended by 600 guests at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

It was a ‘small’ ceremony compared to that of his elder brother, Prince William who married Kate Middleton in front of 1,900. But it was nonetheless a beautiful event, despite it being marred by controversies due to Meghan’s past and her family’s evil plans to make her look bad in public.

Bad Blood with Family

Meghan has two elder half-siblings, her father Thomas Markle Sr.’s children with Roslyn Markle: Samantha Grant and Thomas Markle Jr. The two were already in their teens when Meghan was born.

Meghan’s mom, Doria Loyce Ragland, divorced the elder Thomas when Meghan was 6 years old.

When news broke in November 2016 of Meghan’s relationship with Prince Harry, her estranged sister declared, “Her behavior is certainly not befitting of a royal family member.

More drama came with the couple’s engagement and wedding announcement. Samantha vowed to release a book entitled, “The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister.” She’s been the most vocal of the lot in bashing Meghan but their dad must have been the one that hurt Meghan most when he declared that he wouldn’t go to the wedding.

Later, he changed his mind and said he’d walk her down the aisle as he wants to be ‘part of history’; however, he changed his mind again and was reportedly rushed to the hospital due to health problems just a few days before the wedding.

Meghan didn’t fight back. In a rather regal manner, she asked people to understand her father and give him space to focus on his health.

Thankfully, her mother Doria had always been supportive.

A Royal Wedding

While her estranged family wanted to stop the wedding and make Meghan look bad in the eyes of her would-be in-laws, they didn’t succeed. Obviously.

On the wedding day, breaking all traditions, it was the groom’s dad Prince Charles who walked Meghan down the aisle! Imagine being given away by the Crown Prince of England! Wow.

This was the ultimate sign that the Crown Prince approves of Meghan for his son. The Queen has also given her official consent to the wedding. While Prince Harry has very little chances of becoming king, the consent was extra special because Meghan is a divorcee.

There were even speculations in the past that the Queen wouldn’t attend her grandson’s wedding to the American actress as divorce is forbidden by the Church of England. There were also debates on whether Prince Harry can marry Meghan in church but these were all put to rest with the couple’s wedding at St George’s Chapel – and the beautiful event was attended by the Queen who looked rather happy for her grandson.

Now that they are married, Prince Harry and Meghan were given the official names of Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
