WOW! Family Of Bride-to-Be Does Something Extra Ordinary After Groom Calls Off The Wedding

By  | 6 years ago

This is how Quinn Duane‘s mother, Kari, described the feelings of her daughter after Landon Borup (the groom) called off the wedding at the last minute.

But instead of filling their heart with anger, the Duane family, from El Dorado Hills, California decided to create something positive out of it. Instead of cancelling the venue and catering, the family invited the city’s homeless to enjoy the extravagant feast!

The Duanes’ decided to turn the $35,000 event into a feast for the homeless. According to an interview, Kari Duane said that rather than cancel the reception, they invited Sacramento’s homeless for a once in a lifetime meal at the Citizen Hotel.

“Even though my husband and I were feeling very sad for our daughter, it was heartwarming to see so many people be there and enjoy a meal,” Kari Duane said.

The reception intended for 120 guests was attended by 90 homeless single people, grandparents and whole families with newborns. They enjoyed a meal that included appetizers, salad, gnocchi, salmon, and tri-tip sirloin.

The Reception Turned Into Homeless Feast

Some of the guests gave their thoughts about the occassion. Rashad Abdullah, who came with his wife Erika Craycraft and five children, said the meal was ‘a blessing.’

‘When you’re going through a hard time and a struggle, for you to get out to do something different with your family, it was really a blessing,’ he told KCRA.

His wife Erika also thanked the Duane family for their kindness.

‘To lose out on something so important to yourself and then give it to someone else is really giving, really kind,’ she said.

In life we are challenged to turn every single experience into an opportunity which is exactly what this bride to be did, she did a wonderful thing and gained strength (and racked up tons of good karma points) in the process.
